Investigación y Mentoría

Hasta ahora en mi carrera de investigación clínica he alcanzado un volumen consistente de publicaciones en los campos de la obesidad y la diabetes, con más de 75 publicaciones hasta la fecha. En los últimos tiempos mi grupo de investigación ha publicado artículos sobre los efectos inmunológicos que provocan las condiciones anteriormente mencionadas.

He supervisado a cuatro clínicos (los doctores Khatib, Abusnana, Cawood y O’Connell) hasta la finalización de su doctorado y a uno hasta la finalización de su grado de Doctor en Medicina (Dr. Bashir). Tengo actualmente a cuatro médicos registrados para su tesis doctoral (los doctores Woods, Ahern, Gaoawste y Carolan) y dos para un grado de Doctor en Medicina (doctores Kattak&Armin). La Dra. Eirin Carolan y su sucesora, Dra. Meenal Mavinkurve, han emprendido proyectos de investigación sobre la obesidad pediátrica en colaboración con el Dr. Declan Cody, del Hospital Infantil de Nuestra Señora. Con el Dr. Brian Kirby he co-supervisado a un dermatólogo (Dra. Anne Marie Tobin) para su doctorado y con el Prof. Walter Mc Nicholas estoy co-supervisando al Dr. Brian Kent para su doctorado. Ambos asistieron y presentaron sus planes experimentales en nuestra reunión semanal. He supervisado a dos dietistas en nuestra unidad para completar sus maestrías (Alison Quinn y LorraineCooney). Me complace enormemente que otra de nuestras dietistas, Cathy Breen, haya dedicado su tiempo a realizar un doctorado. Ha completado su transferencia de doctorado y está en el último año de sus estudios, con tres publicaciones basadas en su proyecto de doctorado. En la actualidad, tengo a tres científicos postdoctorales (Dr. Andrew Hogan, Dr. Michelle Corrigan y Dra. Laura Tobin). Mis estudiantes actuales están en camino para la finalización exitosa de sus doctorados y maestrías, con excelentes oportunidades para lograr publicaciones.
